From Promise to Progress

In this bargaining cycle, every proposal we bring forward will challenge the elements of our school system that operate as average. Prince George’s County is exceptional. Our brilliance and innovation come from our diversity. And yet, we have real challenges: vacancies, inefficiencies, and inequities. It’s time to move beyond promises and make real progress.

March 25, 2025 – Bargaining Update

Bargaining Status: Proposals and Responses

  • Your bargaining team put forth new proposals for Less Testing/More Learning during our Tuesday, March 25th Bargaining Session with PGCPS.
  • You can view the full contract language and proposal details for Less Testing More Learning, Reducing Unsustainable Workloads, Healthy Learning Environments, and Miscellaneous, and feel free to ask any questions about these during our debrief sessions.
  • In addition to members of our bargaining team – Nick Schmitz and Tammy O’Donnell –  we had two PGCPS 8th-grade students – Andy Mejia Romero and Isaac Dua – express their frustrations with the district’s over-emphasis on testing, along with a parent and teacher, Ashley Castell.
  • Reading & Language Arts instructor Geva Hickman-Johnson, and Justin Robinson, who holds certifications in secondary mathematics, social studies, English language arts, and science, spoke on Professional Autonomy and Educator Voice.
