PGCEA announces Educator Recommended Candidates in Local Races

The Union releases its list of Educator Recommended candidates vying for local offices

Prince George’s County, MD – The Prince George’s County Educators’ Association (PGCEA) announced on Wednesday their endorsements in fifteen local races including County Executive, County Council, State’s Attorney, and Board of Education.

PGCEA made the following endorsements:

  • Councilmanic 1:                                            Michelle Garcia
  • Councilmanic 2:                                            Victor Ramirez

  • Councilmanic 5:                                            Shayla Adams-Stafford
  • Councilmanic 6:                                            Danielle Hunter
  • Councilmanic 7:                                            Krystal Oriadha
  • Councilmanic 8:                                            Ed Burroughs
  • Councilmanic 9:                                            Tamara Brown
  • State’s Attorney:                                           Tara Jackson

“As educators, we need to fight for local leaders who fight for us, and I’m proud to say we have a powerful slate this year. Prince George’s County is moving in the right direction, and we need to continue gaining momentum to provide our educators with the support and resources they need,” said PGCEA President Dr. Donna Christy.

Candidates went through rigorous vetting and attended interviews conducted by PGCPS educators during the endorsement process, and those who received endorsements were most aligned with PGCEA’s goals and the needs of educators. Primary elections will be held Tuesday, June 23, 2026, with the General Elections on November 3, 2026. In-person early voting will take place from Thursday, June 11, through Thursday, June 18. For more information on how to vote, visit: https://elections.maryland.gov/.
