Prince George’s County Educators Join District Heights and Elected Officials from Around the County to Celebrate Literacy

Educators, community members, elected officials to celebrate the closing of Read Across America Week 2020

District Heights, Maryland—Saturday morning, March 7, 2020, from 8 a.m.-12 p.m., public school teachers and educational support professionals from across Prince George’s County will join the city of  District Heights and other elected leaders to hold a community celebration of literacy. The “Read Across District Heights” event is the final event of a week of “Read Across Prince George’s County” as part of national “Read Across America Week”.

The event includes breakfast with guest speakers on anti-bullying, parent workshops and reading to youth. U.S. Senator Chris Van Hollen is scheduled to be in attendance.

“Celebrating literacy outside of the classroom is vital to encouraging our youth that education is fun and an ongoing process,” explained Prince George’s County Educators’ Association President Theresa Mitchell Dudley. “We will be joined by some great community leaders that are committed to engaging youth and making reading fun.”
