PGCEA Statement on PGCPS CEO Monica Goldson’s retirement

PRINCE GEORGE’S COUNTY, Thursday, January 5th—Dr. Monica Goldson recently announced her retirement from Prince George’s County Public Schools (PGCPS) after 32 years of service to the students and families of our community

“Dr. Goldson has led PGCPS through a uniquely challenging time, and we thank her for her service. We look forward to our continued work with Dr. Goldson as she closes out her final school year,” said PGCEA President Dr. Donna Christy.

As the County Executive begins the selection process for a new CEO, we are hopeful a nationwide search will surface the most qualified talent. We anticipate a transparent and inclusive process with labor and community partners at the table will help select the right candidate for leading PGCPS with a shared vision toward the promise of a great public school for every student.
