From Promise to Progress

In this bargaining cycle, every proposal we bring forward will challenge the elements of our school system that operate as average. Prince George’s County is exceptional. Our brilliance and innovation come from our diversity. And yet, we have real challenges: vacancies, inefficiencies, and inequities. It’s time to move beyond promises and make real progress.

March 18, 2025 – Bargaining Update

Bargaining Status: Proposals and Responses

In our Negotiation Session on Tuesday, March 18th PGCPS presented 3 counter-proposals to our previous proposals (MiscellaneousHealthy and Safe Learning EnvironmentUnsustainable Workload). Yes, for PGCEA concerns and flags were immediately raised by system counter proposals presented by PGCPS hired attorney Edmond O’Meally, who represents the system as its Chief Negotiator. Not only was there outright dismissal of certain PGCEA proposals but the system proposed deferral of our proposals to committees.

While committees can play a vital role, deferring proposals to committees during ongoing contract negotiations such as these undermines the principle of open negotiations, which we fought hard to establish. Your bargaining team has dedicated months to developing comprehensive contract proposals that reflect our Bargaining Platform.

We remain committed to transparent and fair negotiations and will continue to advocate for your interests and the interests of the stakeholder community in which we work and serve. Your continued support is appreciated, especially with possible actions going forward. We believe our members deserve respect and support in their efforts to serve students and families. Education does not occur in a vacuum.

Spread the word and be sure to tune in next week.
